FootballMauricio Pochettino: Chelsea Boss Gives Nonchalant Response to Lukaku’s Situation
- Mauricio Pochettino had his first press conference as Chelsea boss from Stamford Bridge yesterday
- The Argentine manager was quizzed about the situation of striker Romelu Lukaku
- He was quick to diffuse the situation with a rather funny and nonchalant response
Mauricio Pochettino is proving to be the king of press conferences after expertly navigating a question regarding chaotic Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.
Pochettino faced his first press conference as Chelsea boss from Stamford Bridge yesterday. He wasted no time laying down the blueprints of his era while also stamping his authority on some past situations.
Romelu Lukaku has been a focal point of chaos at the club, just four months into his £97m and sealed a loan move away in his second season after a fallout with former boss Thomas Tuchel.
What he got away with in the past, he may not be able to this time as the Blues set brutal conditions to rejoin Inter Milan as they hope to put his wimps behind for good.
Pochettino's comment on Lukaku
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Poch is an admirer of the striker and wants him to lead the line next season, but the player has his mind set on a return to Italy.
The former Tottenham boss appeared not to be a fan of the striker's antics and set things clear for him at his press conference so far he is still at the club.
"I think the personal situations, all the parties know what we think, he told a news conference via Metro UK. "In that case, he needs to come back on the 12th or 13th [July] to be part of the squad and start pre-season.
"When the player arrives, the first thing they are doing is to come to my office to see me and say hello. That is what I expect if he is still a Chelsea player."
Chelsea set the record straight with Lukaku and Inter Milan over a permanent move
FootballThe team is expected to fly out to the United States on July 17 for the pre-season tour, which includes participating in the new Premier League summer series.
United to help Chelsea clearout
Sports Brief previously analysed how Manchester United can help Chelsea get rid of Lukaku in a transfer domino effect if they sign a player from Inter Milan.
The Blues have sounded it out to Inter that they would be willing to part ways with the striker for €40m. United are interested in goalkeeper Andre Onana whom Nerazzurri valued at €50m, which could raise funds to transfer the Belgian striker.
